Toms Shoes is an organization that matches up every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a needy child in another country. It’s called “One for One,” according to their website.

I buy Toms Shoes because I feel bad for those kids over there, and I want to help them. Imagine walking around all day, every day, with no shoes — talk about calloused feet!

The organization started in 2006 and was created by American traveler Blake Mycoskie. He traveled to Argentina and found that the children had no shoes. Mr. Mycoskei, friends, and family returned a year later with 10,000 pairs of shoes.

“With every pair you purchase, Toms will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need,” stated.

I think Americans who want to help other people should buy Toms because it is a simple but effective way to help.
