The CDC is urging citizens to begin taking precaution against the deadly Coronavirus. There are currently 6 confirmed cases in Texas. They have predicted an outbreak. The White House is in the process of trying to donate 1.25 Billion towards the advancement of research and protection.

So far, more than 76,000 people have been infected in China. The number of people who have been killed by this virus has reached 2100 [worldwide count]. The first US patient was diagnosed on Tuesday, January 21. Although this may not seem like a lot, it has seemed to spread like wildfire and the symptoms mimic other illnesses, often causing people to place it on the back burner.

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory disease like the Flu and Bronchitis. The infectee usually begins with a cough, fever, and a sore throat, this usually turns into Pneumonia (one of the most fatal COVID-19 symptoms). The disease attacks the lungs in three phases viral replication, immune hyper-reactivity, and pulmonary destruction (World Health Organization). Not every patient goes through all of the phases, in fact, only 25% went into respiratory failure, the cases are seen and taken as way more severe and are life-threatening.

COVID-19 causes the lungs to fill with mucus due to t the rapid invasion towards the lung cells. Your body tries to combat this by sending a mass amount of immune cells. Often times, the cells begin to overdrive and begin to attack healthy tissue.

The Lungs are only a portion of the body affected. Every single organ and system takes a hit in one way or another.

The origin of the virus is believed to come from illegally traded wildlife at a seafood market in Wuhan. Another possible way it originated was from bat soup. Research shows that it is very possible, but bat soup isn’t very common in China.
