On Friday, October 4th, the Homecoming queen was announced as the court made their grand debut. Karlie Savage won the crown and Marlyn Olivas won runner up.

Karlie Savage has gone to Greenwood ISD since the 6th grade. She is involved in Cross Country, the Junior Scholars Program, and the National Honors Society. She isn’t sure where she wants to go but she wants to get her degree in Nursing and specialize in Oncology. She was on the court during her freshman year and her sister was on the court last year. Her biggest accomplishment is getting baptized during her junior year.

“I honestly didn’t think I’d get it. I was really excited and it was a lot to take in. I’m really thankful for everyone who made it possible,” said Savage.

Getting crowned is her favorite high school memory, specifically, taking pictures after the game and dinner before the game with her fellow court members.

“I honestly didn’t know why I decided [to run], I just kinda talked to Ryan and we both decided that we were going to do it and that it would be fun,” said Savage.

“ [I just want to] Thank everyone for voting for Ryan and I,” Savage said, “ it was a lot of fun.”
